Is the Operating Director and founder of PetroCompletions. He has over 20 years of international industry experience in the oil and gas industry assuming field and technical engineering leadership roles with Schlumberger and Halliburton and has engineering specialization in the field of Well Completions Design and Productivity with special emphasis on Advance Sand Control Completions, Deepwater, HPHT, tubular design and Downhole Equipment Quality assurance and control. Dickson has taught numerous industry training programs in the field of Completions Engineering and has authored SPE and industry articles in the field of Advance Completions Engineering. Dickson has Bachelors of Engineering degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria.

ABOUT COURSE 

 

This course is a 5 day program aimed at developing rapidly; completion engineering skill set in newly  hired professionals and experienced oilfield professionals cross training into the completion engineering  discipline. The course will teach the fundamentals of completion engineering philosophy as it relates to well productivity enhancement. Candidates will be taught how a completion system is designed with emphasis on understanding tubing and equipment selection criteria.

  • Definition of Completion Engineering 
  • Role of the completion engineer 
  • Design philosophy 
  • Well completions configuration (Openhole, cased and perforated, Single selective, Comingled  completions etc…)

 

2. FUNDAMENTALS OF RESERVOIR PRODUCTIVITY  

  • Concepts of reservoir production 
  • Critical reservoir rock and fluid properties 
  • Reservoir Drive mechanisms 
  • Well performance and flow behavior 

 

3. INTRODUCTION TO PERFORATING SYSTEMS 

 
  • The Shaped charge 
  • Perforating gun components
  • Firing mechanism
  • Conveyance methods
  • Job design and field applications
  • Introduction to advance perforating tools 
 

4. COMPLETION EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS: FUNCTIONS AND APPLICATIONS  

  • Packers and accessories 
  • Completion string accessories (Side pocket mandrels, Sliding sleeves, nipples,  intervention‐less tools, etc…) 
  • Wellhead and Safety systems (Safety valves, Christmas trees, etc…) 
  • Intelligent well systems (remote flow control tools, permanent downhole gauges etc…) 

 

5. COMPLETION SYSTEMS DESIGN & INSTALLATION PRACTICES  

  • Completion system material selection: Metallurgy and corrosion mechanism, Elastomers 
  • Tubing design and stress analysis 
  • Wellbore preparation (Wellbore Cleanout) and Completion installation 

 

6. BASIC COMPLETIONS PROJECT MANAGEMENT - PLANNING SUCCESSFUL WELL COMPLETIONS
